SMALL GROUP ENGAGEMENTS

The Ridgefield Prevention Council relies on the expertise of local therapists, social workers and psychologists to help our Ridgefield families.

 

  • LeAnn Nicholson lead a discussion on her book, Raising Resilient Children: Fostering Strength, Hope and Optimism in Your Child.

  • John Hamilton presented "How to Strengthen Resilience in Families" at the Lounsbury House, providing ways to redefine relationships to promote recovery for all.  

  • Alicia Farrell, PHD had a discussion on alcohol and marijuana at the Ridgefield Library.

  • Community outreach dinner at Gallo Restaurant to build local partnerships.

  • Attended Ridgefield's Destination Wellness Event

TOWN WIDE EVENTS

The Ridgefield Prevention Council believes the more involved our community is in the prevention of risky behavior, the less likely our community will take part in such behavior.  

 

In the past RPC has sponsored/co-sponsored events at the Ridgefield Playhouse with big name speakers such as:

  • Former NBA star Chris Herren; sharing his compelling story of addiction and road to recovery.

  • Actor John Morello; talking about risky behavior & prevention. 

  • Former Mets superstar Dwight Gooden telling his story of addiction and recovery.

  • Motivational Speaker Ty Sells; and The Power of Acceptance.

  • Former NFL player, Jeff Hatch came to talk about his opioid addiction and how he came to know a life in recovery lived with purpose.

  • Actor Giancarlo Esposito of 'Breaking Bad'; where he discusses growing up with drugs & alcohol in his family and how it affected his life.

  • NHL all star, Theo Fleury spoke about his troubled childhood, abuse and coping with emotional pain through addictive and self-destructive behaviors- "Real Conversations".

  • Cracked Up: The Darrell Hammond Story was presented at the Ridgefield Playhouse.  In Cracked Up, director Michelle Esrick’s Award-winning documentary, we witness the impact that childhood trauma can have across a lifetime through the incredibly courageous and personal story of comedian, actor and Saturday Night Live legend Darrell Hammond.

  • Generation Found screening at the Ridgefield Playhouse. A powerful story about one community coming together to ignite a youth addiction recovery revolution in their hometown. 

  • Dr. Matt Bellace, motivational speaker, and comedian with a Ph.D. in Clinical Neuropsychology, presented at both East Ridge and Scotts Ridge Middle Schools, focusing on the development of “self-control, grit and resilience.

  • Drug Take Back Day- in conjunction with the Ridgefield Police Department.
